- In order to create a complex wine, grapes from three areas were combined
- Bot River, for good tannin structure and colour
- Franschhoek for pure berry fruit, and Stellenbosch, for the volume of the grapes and a light mintiness.
- The Cinsaut (5%) lowers the alcohol and promotes fruit and elegance.
- For 16 months the wine was matured in 300-litre French oak barrels – 25% new, 25% second-fill and 50% older barrels.
